This word in TamilNadu denotes only MG Ramachandran aka MGR, the erstwhile Chief Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu, India. People even now are fond of him, inspite of his demise some years ago.

Though nowadays many call themselves “Thalaivar” of various sects, groups, sangams, MGR still is fondly the Thalaivar or Puratchi Thalaivar. He built  legacy through his “Feel Good” “Do Good” films.
