Irani Chai shops are becoming rarer these days to be spotted in the city. But still they hold a special place in many Chennaiites hearts when it comes to the chai served by them. Though chennai is not synonoymous like Hyderabad with Irani Chai shops, but still they are one of the few establishments that hold-on still in this age.
Seen a few at Thambu Chetty Street – Parrys, Woods Road – Off Anna Salai, Smith Road – Anna Salai Junction …. Could you add a few more places?
And I thought they are famous in only Mumbai & Delhi.
Next time when I am in Chennai, would love to have their chai & maska-bun (bun with butter).

I used to have tea in Irani Tea Stall in General Patters Road daily when i was studying in Davar’s College of Commerce for my CA Entrance Coaching in 1980. They are very famous for the tea and samosa… That tea shop should still be existing on G.P.Road Opposite to Jayaprada Theatre…
