University of Madras, founded by 1857 was the modeled by then London University. With the motto being “Learning Promotes Talent”, has several departments in its campus like some interesting ones Anthropology, Crystallography & Biophysics, Jainology, Saiva Siddhantha, Polymer Science to name a few.
