Madras Veterinary College was established in 1903 from a building known as Doblin Hall. Affiliated with the University of Madras in 1936. This was the first college to offer the bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine in India, and this is in Vepery. The first veterinary university in India, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) was formed in 1989 at Madhavaram.
