The Kannagi (கண்ணகி) statue in the Marina Beach is iconic reference to the City of Chennai like the Labour statue or the Central Station etc. and a very easy recall of a landmark of the city.

The Statue had its share of controversies between the ADMK & DMK Governments in the 2001 till 2006
