Pitchu Pillai Lane in Mylapore is obvioulsy with an Unique name for a street. Though i shot 3 pictures of that street name, But i liked this one because of the Old Street Sign (though completely white-washed now).
This is one of the off lanes of the Mada Street near Kapaleeswarar Temple.
Interesting.
So many street names got modified dropping the “perceived” caste suffixes. Even in Triplicane, one of the few lengthy streets by name “Venkatrangam Pillai Street” became Venkatrangam Street.
May be this Pitch(u) is on a different wicket!

Very different name …. Chennai has many weirdly named streets..Recently I came across a street’s name : “Kolaikaran Street”(literally translated to “Murderer’s Street” !) in the newspaper..
Ram: Yes V, more such weird names to come here .. watch out. Also, the area in Royapettah is called Kolaikkaranpettai
