As a part of the Navarathri festival, many household’s in Southern India keep a Golu (கொலு), which actually means Divine presence. Many households decorate these stands (normally either a 5, 7 or 9 steps) with God & Goddess dolls mainly, but nowadays “Concept Golu’s” are also gaining popularity.
Interestingly there’s a similar Doll Festival in Japan called Hina-matsuri.
This Kolu / Golu is from an home in West Mambalam.
