The 136 Year Old Methodist Church in Vepery, is one of a few churches in Chennai which are over a 100 years old and the Emmanuel Methodist Church(EMC) located at Doveton Corner in Vepery is one such illustrious example. The cornerstone of Methodist Episcopal Church was laid on December 17, 1878. The church building was planned and built by Isaac Peters during the period of Rev. James Shaw.
