A Sivanadiyar is a Devotee of Lord Siva (also "the slave of siva", when loosely translated). The old city still carries the marks of many religious gathering places like this one. This is a "Chennai Sivanadiyar ThiruKootam" (the Chennai's Siva devotees holy gathering) off Mint Street.
