Unani medicine which finds its root from Greek – Persian areas, is well practised in India. As an alternative medicine, its popular like Ayurveda, Siddha, Homeopathy in the sub-continent. Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) along with Dept of Ayurveda, Yoga & naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) from the Government of India promotes these medicinal ideas, and under the banner CCRUM this form of medicine finds its place in the country.

In Chennai one of the eight Regional Institute is situated in Royapuram and this is one of the hubs for creating new formulations, of the 500+ formulations already under its banner.
