Come summer the city reels under water scarcity and one gets to see the water trucks (tankers) in high speed roaming across the city to supply water to neighbourhoods. The administration did a Veeranam pipeline from the lake to source water for the city, now they are planning to extend the same from 235 KMs pipeline to another 60-65 kms or so to a 300 KMs pipeline.

More imaginative solutions are needed for the city apart from a stringent "scarcely use" water campaign to all residents.
