Nowadays with the footpaths getting beautified etc., they fail to notice or give way for the trees to expand (which was earlier planted as an avenue tree on the corners and later as the road expanded the trees came on the footpath) and concretise the footpaths. This kills the tree or gets uprooted during the slightest of winds.
